In 2022, purchases abroad of non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified decreased by -21.8% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a mild downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 63% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

In value terms, non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 74%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then dropped notably in the following year.

In 2022, Turkey (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified to Estonia, accounting for a 29% share of total imports. Moreover, non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Peru (X tons), twofold. Israel (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Turkey stood at +7.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Peru (+7.1% per year) and Israel (+2.0% per year).

In value terms, the largest non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified suppliers to Estonia were Turkey ($X), Greece ($X) and Peru ($X), with a combined 48% share of total imports. Spain, Israel, the Netherlands, Poland and Egypt lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.

In terms of the main suppliers, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +30.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average import price for non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified amounted to $X per ton, declining by -13.7% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.0%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 16%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Israel ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
