In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 43%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic self-adhesive plate exports expanded notably to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Finland (X tons), Sweden (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons) were the main destinations of plastic self-adhesive plate exports from Estonia, with a combined 57% share of total exports. Belarus, Russia, Latvia, the UK, Norway, Romania, Uzbekistan, Poland and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 37%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +226.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for plastic self-adhesive plate exported from Estonia were Finland ($X), Sweden ($X) and Russia ($X), together accounting for 55% of total exports. Lithuania, Belarus, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Uzbekistan, Romania, the UK and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.

Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +307.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a mild increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 66% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uzbekistan (+24.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of plastic self-adhesive plates, sheets and other flat shapes increased by 1.7% to X tons, rising for the sixth year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.1% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, plastic self-adhesive plate imports rose notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +31.5% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 29%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest plastic self-adhesive plate supplier to Estonia, with a 30% share of total imports. Moreover, plastic self-adhesive plate imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Finland (X tons), with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany stood at +14.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (-2.0% per year) and Finland (+6.1% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of plastic self-adhesive plates, sheets and other flat shapes to Estonia, comprising 28% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Finland, with a 9.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Germany totaled +13.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+13.3% per year) and Finland (+5.4% per year).

In 2022, the average plastic self-adhesive plate import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 6.3% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 17% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
