The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by 466%. The exports peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Israel (X tons), Canada (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of nutmeg, mace and cardamom exports from Ethiopia, with a combined 73% share of total exports.

In 2022, the amount of nutmeg, mace and cardamoms imported into Ethiopia reduced rapidly to X tons, waning by -16% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, saw a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 151%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +20.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
