From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia amounted to $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+45.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Ethiopia
In 2022, supplies from abroad of packaging materials was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 76%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, packaging materials imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a noticeable reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 75%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Saudi Arabia (X tons), India (X tons) and South Africa (X tons) were the main suppliers of packaging materials imports to Ethiopia, with a combined 60% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Saudi Arabia (with a CAGR of +10.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X), India ($X) and South Africa ($X) constituted the largest packaging materials suppliers to Ethiopia, with a combined 58% share of total imports.
