In 2022, supplies from abroad of radio receivers for motor vehicles increased by 64% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 343%. Imports peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, vehicle radio imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 416% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, the United States (X units) constituted the largest supplier of vehicle radio to Ethiopia, accounting for a 40% share of total imports. Moreover, vehicle radio imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, France (X units), twofold.
