Over the period under review, total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -2.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 104% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Pakistan (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of unvulcanized rubber imports to Ethiopia, together accounting for 69% of total imports. South Korea, Turkey, China, Thailand, Malaysia and India lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Turkey (with a CAGR of +83.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest unvulcanized rubber suppliers to Ethiopia were Pakistan ($X), Italy ($X) and Vietnam ($X), together accounting for 54% of total imports. China, South Korea, Turkey, Thailand, Malaysia and India lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.
Turkey, with a CAGR of +67.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average unvulcanized rubber import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 1.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a slight slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average import price increased by 23%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
