Total exports indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +85.0% against 2016 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Germany dominates exports structure, recording X tons, which was approx. 94% of total exports in 2021. The following exporters - the Netherlands (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) - together made up 5.6% of total exports.

Exports from Germany increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Belgium (+48.2%) and the Netherlands (+5.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belgium emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +48.2% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belgium increased by +2 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest dicyandiamide supplier in the European Union, comprising 89% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 6.1% share of total exports.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

France was the key importer of X-cyanoguanidine (dicyandiamide) in the European Union, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was near 48% of total imports in 2021. Spain (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 15% share, followed by Italy (13%), the Netherlands (8.9%) and Germany (5.5%). The following importers - Belgium (X tons) and Sweden (X tons) - each finished at a 5.4% share of total imports.

Imports into France increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Belgium (+24.8%), the Netherlands (+18.5%) and Italy (+2.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belgium emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +24.8% from 2012-2021. Spain and Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Sweden (-2.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. France (+7.6 p.p.), the Netherlands (+5.9 p.p.) and Belgium (+2.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Sweden, Italy, Germany and Spain saw its share reduced by -2.3%, -2.5%, -2.7% and -6.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
