The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Total exports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then declined rapidly in the following year.

The Netherlands represented the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which accounted for 31% of total exports. It was distantly followed by France (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Germany (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Sweden (X tons), together generating a 48% share of total exports. Austria (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Spain (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to telephone apparatus exports from the Netherlands stood at +7.1%. At the same time, Poland (+17.2%), Austria (+15.0%), the Czech Republic (+15.0%), Romania (+12.8%), Belgium (+12.1%), Spain (+7.9%), France (+6.5%) and Sweden (+3.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +17.2% from 2012-2022. Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Hungary (-9.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the Netherlands (+6.3 p.p.), the Czech Republic (+6.3 p.p.), Poland (+5.4 p.p.), France (+2.1 p.p.) and Austria (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Germany (-7.3 p.p.) and Hungary (-9.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest telephone apparatus supplying countries in the European Union were the Netherlands ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 59% share of total exports. Sweden, Austria, Poland, Hungary, France, Belgium, Spain and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.

Austria, with a CAGR of +16.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -18.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a slight curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 13% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while France ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +13.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 70% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
