In 2021, the amount of aircraft launching gear, deck-arrestor or similar gear and parts thereof imported in the European Union shrank notably to X tons, dropping by -39.2% on 2020. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a pronounced expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 144% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, aircraft launching gear imports dropped remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 261%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

The purchases of the four major importers of aircraft launching gear, deck-arrestor or similar gear and parts thereof, namely France, Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 125%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($X per ton), while Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
