Moreover, Spain emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +42.6% from 2012-2022. Austria experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Spain (+12 p.p.), Poland (+4.6 p.p.) and Italy (+2.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Austria and Germany saw its share reduced by -3.1% and -9.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the largest chemically modified oils supplier in the European Union, comprising 45% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Spain ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with an 8.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the Netherlands amounted to +13.0%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Spain (+51.1% per year) and Germany (+4.4% per year).

For the eleventh year in a row, the European Union recorded growth in purchases abroad of animal or vegetable fats and oils chemically modified, which increased by 25% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports recorded a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, chemically modified oils imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports posted a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 55%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, the Netherlands (X tons) represented the main importer of animal or vegetable fats and oils chemically modified, mixing up 40% of total imports. Spain (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Germany (X tons) and Finland (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 33% share of total imports. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported animal or vegetable fats and oils chemically modified in the European Union, comprising 35% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Spain ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with an 11% share.

In the Netherlands, chemically modified oils imports expanded at an average annual rate of +19.0% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Spain (+35.0% per year) and Germany (+10.8% per year).
