As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The Netherlands (X tons) and Germany (X tons) dominates exports structure, together mixing up 94% of total exports. The following exporters - Spain (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) - together made up 4.3% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +13.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Spain ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 92% share of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Spain, with a CAGR of +9.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 9.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 26% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, aromatic alcohols imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

The purchases of the six major importers of aromatic alcohols and their derivatives, namely Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, France and Belgium, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Poland (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +10.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest aromatic alcohols importing markets in the European Union were France ($X), Germany ($X) and Spain ($X), with a combined 57% share of total imports.
France, with a CAGR of +10.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 23%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
