In value terms, artichoke exports rose modestly to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 28% against the previous year. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, artichoke imports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

France (X tons) and Italy (X tons) dominates imports structure, together making up 79% of total imports. Belgium (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 6.2% share, followed by Germany (6%) and the Netherlands (5.3%).

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -21.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 27%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
