Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, orthopedic prosthetics exports declined to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 25%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.
Exports by Country
The Netherlands was the largest exporting country with an export of about X units, which accounted for 39% of total exports. Germany (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Belgium (X units), Ireland (X units), France (X units) and Austria (X units). All these countries together took approx. 52% share of total exports. Spain (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.
Exports from the Netherlands increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Spain (+9.3%), Belgium (+4.1%) and Ireland (+3.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Spain emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +9.3% from 2012-2022. Austria experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Germany (-2.3%) and France (-3.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the Netherlands (+14 p.p.) and Belgium (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Austria (-2.5 p.p.), France (-7.5 p.p.) and Germany (-10.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the largest orthopedic prosthetics supplier in the European Union, comprising 47% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in the Netherlands totaled +4.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belgium (+3.8% per year) and Germany (+2.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, declining by -15% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern.
