By contrast, the Netherlands (-3.9%), Belgium (-5.9%), Finland (-6.4%), France (-6.7%), Hungary (-7.9%) and Italy (-14.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Germany, Slovakia, Spain, Poland and Romania increased by +18, +10, +7.1, +2.2 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Hungary ($X) and Slovakia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 58% of total exports. Spain, Italy, Estonia, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Finland, Poland and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.

Among the main exporting countries, Romania, with a CAGR of +53.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 3.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 16%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the Netherlands ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
