The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, brewing dregs exports expanded remarkably to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +74.5% against 2016 indices. The biggest shipments were from Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Belgium (X tons), together resulting at 58% of total export. Hungary (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 9.2% share, followed by Slovakia (6.1%), Austria (5.9%) and France (5.3%).

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +14.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the largest brewing dregs supplier in the European Union, comprising 32% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 12% share.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 31% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, brewing dregs imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, Ireland (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Spain (X tons), France (X tons) and Germany (X tons) was the key importer of brewing or distilling dregs and waste in the European Union, making up 70% of total import. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X tons) and Italy (X tons), together creating a 9.3% share of total imports. Portugal, with a CAGR of +30.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 32% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.4%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+11.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
