Among the main exporting countries, Belgium, with a CAGR of +28.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 12% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a slight curtailment. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while Portugal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+2.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in the EU
Bridge imports rose notably to X tons in 2021, increasing by 9.1% on the previous year. In general, imports recorded a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 39%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, bridge imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 43%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
The countries with the highest levels of bridge imports in 2021 were Germany (X tons), France (X tons), Finland (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Spain (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons), together amounting to 69% of total import. Poland (X tons), Austria (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Italy (X tons), Croatia (X tons), Lithuania (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Croatia (with a CAGR of +43.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X), Germany ($X) and Finland ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 47% share of total imports. The Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, Austria, Croatia, Belgium, Poland, Italy, Denmark and Lithuania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 45%.
Croatia, with a CAGR of +55.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, growing by 7.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a perceptible setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 16%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
