The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 12% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, broom, brush, and mop exports declined to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +56.4% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 17%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.

Germany was the key exporting country with an export of about X units, which accounted for 42% of total exports. Italy (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 13% share, followed by the Czech Republic (7.2%), the Netherlands (5.9%) and Poland (4.8%). The following exporters - Hungary (X units), Spain (X units), France (X units), Ireland (X units), Belgium (X units), Sweden (X units) and Austria (X units) - together made up 22% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to broom, brush, and mop exports from Germany stood at +1.3%. At the same time, Hungary (+20.6%), Austria (+15.0%), Spain (+8.9%), the Netherlands (+7.5%), Poland (+5.3%), the Czech Republic (+1.9%) and Sweden (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +20.6% from 2012-2022. France and Ireland experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Italy (-1.6%) and Belgium (-2.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Hungary (+3.1 p.p.), the Netherlands (+2.4 p.p.), Austria (+1.8 p.p.) and Spain (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Belgium (-1.6 p.p.), Germany (-3.4 p.p.) and Italy (-5.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest broom, brush, and mop supplier in the European Union, comprising 36% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 9.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Italy, with a 7.7% share.

In Germany, broom, brush, and mop exports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Netherlands (+11.0% per year) and Italy (+2.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, waning by -8.2% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.8%. In 2022, overseas purchases of brooms, brushes, and mops decreased by -3.7% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 18% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, broom, brush, and mop imports shrank to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +67.7% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 21%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined slightly in the following year.

France (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 12% share, followed by Italy (8%), Poland (7.2%), the Netherlands (7.2%), Spain (6.7%) and Hungary (4.7%). The following importers - Belgium (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Austria (X units), Sweden (X units), Romania (X units) and Denmark (X units) - together made up 18% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to broom, brush, and mop imports into Germany stood at +6.0%. At the same time, Hungary (+19.0%), Romania (+7.7%), the Netherlands (+7.1%), Poland (+5.7%), Denmark (+5.5%), Italy (+5.2%), Austria (+4.2%), Belgium (+3.4%), Spain (+3.3%), Sweden (+2.4%) and the Czech Republic (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +19.0% from 2012-2022. France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Germany (+3.8 p.p.), Hungary (+3.4 p.p.) and the Netherlands (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while France saw its share reduced by -7.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. In value terms, the largest broom, brush, and mop importing markets in the European Union were Germany ($X), France ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 47% share of total imports. Poland, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Denmark and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 42%.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 8.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
