Exports by Country
In 2022, the Netherlands (X tons) was the main exporter of butanols (excluding butan-1-ol (n-butyl alcohol)), making up 58% of total exports. Germany (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 24% share, followed by France (11%) and Belgium (5.1%).
The Netherlands experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of butanols (excluding butan-1-ol (n-butyl alcohol)). Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 33%. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Belgium (X tons) and Italy (X tons) represented the key importers of butanols (excluding butan-1-ol (n-butyl alcohol)) in the European Union, together resulting at approx. 56% of total imports. Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 26% against the previous year. Import price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, butanols (excluding butan-1-ol (n-butyl alcohol)) import price increased by +55.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 31%.
