From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +27.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest carbon brush supplier in the European Union, comprising 34% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Austria ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Germany totaled -2.7%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Austria (-3.1% per year) and Hungary (+14.0% per year).

Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 18%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, carbon brush imports rose significantly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 14%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
