Export price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, caviar (sturgeon) export price increased by +49.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 114% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, France ($X), Germany ($X) and Spain ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 57% share of total imports. Belgium, Latvia, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Sweden, Bulgaria, Greece and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +35.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, growing by 36% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
