The EU chicken table egg market totaled $X in 2022, surging by 2.5% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, recorded a slight setback. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of production, amongst the main producing countries, was attained by the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +4.5%), while production for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports in the EU

In 2022, the amount of chicken table eggs exported in the European Union rose remarkably to X tons, increasing by 8.6% on the previous year. Overall, exports, however, showed a noticeable slump. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, chicken table egg exports surged to $X in 2022. The Netherlands was the main exporter of chicken table eggs in the European Union, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was near 39% of total exports in 2022. Poland (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 22% share, followed by Germany (8.6%), Spain (5.6%) and Belgium (4.8%). The following exporters - Latvia (X tons), Romania (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons), Finland (X tons) and France (X tons) - together made up 13% of total exports.

In value terms, the largest chicken table egg supplying countries in the European Union were the Netherlands ($X), Poland ($X) and Germany ($X), together accounting for 68% of total exports. Spain, Belgium, Latvia, Romania, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, France and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 24%.

In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.7%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Spain ($X per ton) and Bulgaria ($X per ton), while Finland ($X per ton) and the Netherlands ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
