Overall, imports, however, recorded a perceptible contraction. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, chlorates, bromates and iodates imports rose significantly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 13%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Sweden (X tons) represented the major importer of chlorates and perchlorates, bromates and perbromates, iodates and periodates, constituting 39% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Portugal (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Germany (X tons), together achieving a 41% share of total imports. Spain (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Poland (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
