In value terms, Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and France ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 74% of total exports. The Netherlands, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Spain and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 14%.
Hungary, with a CAGR of +19.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -2.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 6.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 16%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Hungary (X tons) took a 9.6% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Belgium (7.5%), the Czech Republic (7.2%), France (6.4%) and Spain (5.1%). Denmark (X tons), Sweden (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Poland (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Finland (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Hungary (with a CAGR of +14.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest shaft coupling importing markets in the European Union were Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and France ($X), with a combined 41% share of total imports. Hungary, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Spain, Austria, Poland, Finland and Denmark lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 50%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Hungary, with a CAGR of +15.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -4.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Denmark ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
