In value terms, computing machinery exports rose significantly to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +65.7% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
The Netherlands was the major exporter of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof in the European Union, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was near 46% of total exports in 2021. Germany (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by the Czech Republic (X tons) and Belgium (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 31% share of total exports. Poland (X tons), France (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Italy (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Sweden (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.
The Netherlands was also the fastest-growing in terms of the computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof exports, with a CAGR of +3.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Hungary (+2.4%) and Spain (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Italy and Belgium experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the Czech Republic (-2.8%), Sweden (-3.0%), Poland (-3.0%), Germany (-3.2%) and France (-3.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the Netherlands (+12 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of the Czech Republic (-2.3 p.p.) and Germany (-6.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together comprising 71% of total exports. These countries were followed by Poland, France, Hungary, Belgium, Italy, Sweden and Spain, which together accounted for a further 19%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +8.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 11% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.4%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+12.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in the EU
In 2021, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof, when their volume decreased by -6.1% to X tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 26%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, computing machinery imports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, the Netherlands (X tons), distantly followed by Germany (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and France (X tons) were the largest importers of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof, together mixing up 72% of total imports. Italy (X tons), Poland (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Spain (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Sweden (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +10.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 58% share of total imports. These countries were followed by France, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Belgium and Hungary, which together accounted for a further 29%.
Among the main importing countries, Hungary, with a CAGR of +5.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 21% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.3%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per ton), while the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+5.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
