From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, concentrated apple juice exports expanded remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a noticeable slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 32%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Poland represented the major exporter of concentrated apple juice in the European Union, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 49% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Austria (X tons), Hungary (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Italy (X tons), together making up a 40% share of total exports. Spain (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.
Poland experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of concentrated apple juice. At the same time, the Netherlands (+4.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Netherlands emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +4.6% from 2012-2021. Austria experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Hungary (-1.6%), Spain (-5.4%), Italy (-6.7%) and Germany (-8.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Poland and the Netherlands increased by +6.8 and +3.1 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest concentrated apple juice supplier in the European Union, comprising 46% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Austria ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with an 8.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Poland stood at -3.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Austria (-4.1% per year) and the Netherlands (+2.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, leveling off at the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a perceptible descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by 26% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in the Netherlands ($X per ton) and Italy ($X per ton), while Spain ($X per ton) and Poland ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (-0.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, overseas purchases of concentrated apple juice were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, recorded a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 6.6%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, concentrated apple juice imports reached $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 24%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Germany was the main importer of concentrated apple juice in the European Union, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was near 32% of total imports in 2021. Austria (X tons) held a 17% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the Netherlands (12%), France (10%) and Poland (6.6%). The following importers - Spain (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Denmark (X tons), Italy (X tons), Ireland (X tons) and Sweden (X tons) - together made up 14% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Italy (with a CAGR of +5.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported concentrated apple juice in the European Union, comprising 32% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Austria ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 13% share.
In Germany, concentrated apple juice imports decreased by an average annual rate of -10.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Austria (-6.4% per year) and the Netherlands (-4.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, growing by 3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a noticeable slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 17%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while Ireland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ireland (+0.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
