In value terms, the largest unsweetened condensed and evaporated milk supplying countries in the European Union were the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and Belgium ($X), together comprising 78% of total exports. France, Luxembourg, Lithuania and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 18%.
Sweden, with a CAGR of +37.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the amount of condensed or evaporated milk (unsweetened) imported in the European Union rose sharply to X tons, increasing by 8.8% on the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, unsweetened condensed and evaporated milk imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last nine years. Poland (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by France (X tons) and Italy (X tons). All these countries together held near 16% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +17.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Greece ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Germany ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 61% of total imports. These countries were followed by Belgium, France, Italy and Poland, which together accounted for a further 30%.
Poland, with a CAGR of +17.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 9.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
