As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, direct dye imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 22%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

The purchases of the six major importers of direct dyes and preparations based thereon, namely the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Poland, Belgium and France, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Spain (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, the largest direct dye importing markets in the European Union were Italy ($X), Germany ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 60% share of total imports. France, Poland, Spain and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +14.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, approximately equating the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the import price increased by 11% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
