Domestic Toaster Market Size in the EU

The EU domestic toaster market reduced to $X in 2022, declining by -6.8% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, saw a resilient increase. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, domestic toaster production rose slightly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production continues to indicate a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the production volume increased by 121% against the previous year. In 2022, shipments abroad of domestic electric toasters decreased by -10.8% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Total exports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -13.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The shipments of the seven major exporters of domestic electric toasters, namely Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, France, the Czech Republic and Poland, represented more than two-thirds of total export. The following exporters - Austria (X units) and Slovakia (X units) - each amounted to a 6.3% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +20.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 51% of total exports. Poland, Spain, France, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.

Poland, with a CAGR of +31.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, flattening at the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.8%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the export price increased by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the Czech Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+8.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of domestic electric toasters decreased by -17.1% to X units for the first time since 2016, thus ending a five-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 11%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2021, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, domestic toaster imports shrank to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +35.4% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 21%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Germany (X units), distantly followed by France (X units), Spain (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Italy (X units) and Poland (X units) represented the main importers of domestic electric toasters, together achieving 73% of total imports. The following importers - Sweden (X units), Austria (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Portugal (X units), Belgium (X units), Hungary (X units) and Romania (X units) - together made up 18% of total imports.

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by 6.3% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 10%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
