In value terms, drawn glass and blown glass exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +70.6% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Germany (X square meters) and Estonia (X square meters) represented the main exporters of drawn glass and blown glass in 2021, resulting at approx. 45% and 32% of total exports, respectively. It was distantly followed by France (X square meters), mixing up an 11% share of total exports. Bulgaria (X square meters) and the Netherlands (X square meters) took a minor share of total exports.

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per square meter in 2021, shrinking by -1.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a slight contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 4.9% against the previous year. Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per square meter), while Estonia ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in the EU
After three years of decline, supplies from abroad of drawn glass and blown glass increased by 51% to X square meters in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a noticeable decline. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X square meters in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country
Estonia was the largest importer of drawn glass and blown glass in the European Union, with the volume of imports resulting at X square meters, which was approx. 38% of total imports in 2021. Germany (X square meters) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 8.5% share, followed by Belgium (7.7%), Slovakia (7.3%), Poland (7.1%) and the Netherlands (7.1%). The following importers - Portugal (X square meters), Latvia (X square meters), Spain (X square meters), Bulgaria (X square meters), France (X square meters), Sweden (X square meters) and Romania (X square meters) - together made up 17% of total imports.
Estonia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the drawn glass and blown glass imports, with a CAGR of +52.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Belgium (+27.8%) and Latvia (+12.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the Netherlands (-1.2%), Bulgaria (-1.5%), Portugal (-2.3%), Slovakia (-2.5%), Sweden (-3.5%), Romania (-5.3%), Spain (-7.6%), Poland (-9.2%) and France (-20.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Estonia (+38 p.p.), Belgium (+7.1 p.p.), Germany (+2.4 p.p.), Latvia (+2.2 p.p.) and the Netherlands (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Poland (-4.6 p.p.) and France (-8.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported drawn glass and blown glass in the European Union, comprising 25% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Estonia ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 9.2% share.
In Germany, drawn glass and blown glass imports expanded at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Estonia (+51.7% per year) and the Netherlands (-0.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per square meter, remaining constant against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a perceptible decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 14%. The level of import peaked at $X per square meter in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per square meter), while Bulgaria ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
