The EU dry vegetable market fell to $X in 2022, which is down by -5.8% against the previous year. The shipments of the four major exporters of dry vegetables, namely Poland, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands, represented more than two-thirds of total export. France (X tons) took a 7.7% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Hungary (5.2%) and Belgium (4.7%).

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +9.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest dry vegetable supplying countries in the European Union were Germany ($X), Poland ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 57% share of total exports.

Poland, with a CAGR of +8.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, falling by -3.1% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 28%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank modestly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+3.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 13% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In 2022, Germany (X tons), distantly followed by the Netherlands (X tons), Spain (X tons), Italy (X tons), France (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the key importers of dry vegetables, together making up 73% of total imports.
