Romania, with a CAGR of +51.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -18.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price faced a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 15%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per unit), while Germany ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+4.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Moreover, Finland emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +14.8% from 2012-2021. Poland experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Sweden (-3.2%) and France (-13.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Germany, Italy, Finland, Estonia, Spain and Lithuania increased by +11, +3.4, +3.3, +2.1, +2 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and Latvia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 46% share of total imports. Austria, France, Sweden, Spain, Finland, Estonia, Poland, Lithuania, Belgium and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.

Among the main importing countries, Spain, with a CAGR of +21.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -15.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 95% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
