Egg Product Market Size in the EU

In 2021, the EU egg product market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The level of consumption peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, egg product exports rose markedly to $X in 2021. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 19%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the largest egg product supplier in the European Union, comprising 37% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 10% share.

In the Netherlands, egg product exports shrank by an average annual rate of -1.1% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Poland (+8.6% per year) and France (+0.7% per year).

In 2021, approx. X tons of egg products were imported in the European Union; picking up by 8.2% on 2020 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 22%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, egg product imports expanded significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
