In value terms, automotive lighting exports totaled $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) represented the largest exporters of automotive lighting in 2021, resulting at near 21% and 21% of total exports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Poland (X units), Slovakia (X units), France (X units), Spain (X units), Austria (X units) and Romania (X units), together creating a 44% share of total exports.

In value terms, the largest automotive lighting supplying countries in the European Union were Germany ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Slovakia ($X), together comprising 54% of total exports. In 2021, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, surging by 9.8% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 40% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the Czech Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+5.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
Germany was the largest importing country with an import of about X units, which amounted to 33% of total imports. Spain (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by France (X units), Slovakia (X units), Italy (X units), Poland (X units) and Belgium (X units). All these countries together took approx. 41% share of total imports. The Netherlands (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Sweden (X units), Austria (X units), Hungary (X units) and Portugal (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.
Imports into Germany increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Spain (+21.7%), Portugal (+21.5%), Hungary (+21.4%), Poland (+18.3%), Austria (+16.0%), Italy (+14.9%), the Netherlands (+14.8%), Slovakia (+12.1%), Sweden (+9.0%), the Czech Republic (+8.7%), France (+8.5%) and Belgium (+8.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Spain emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +21.7% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Spain, Poland and Hungary increased by +6.5, +2.2 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported automotive lighting in the European Union, comprising 40% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 7.5% share of total imports. It was followed by Spain, with a 7.3% share.
In Germany, automotive lighting imports expanded at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: France (+3.1% per year) and Spain (+11.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a pronounced curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 14% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per unit), while Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (-0.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
