The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +53.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, machinery electrical parts exports fell to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 21% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the three major exporters of electrical parts of machinery or apparatus, namely France, Belgium and Portugal, represented more than third of total export. The Netherlands (X tons) took a 7.4% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Ireland (7%), Poland (6.8%), Germany (6.3%), Spain (5.7%) and Italy (5.4%). Slovakia (X tons) took a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Ireland (with a CAGR of +47.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Belgium ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 64% of total exports. Poland, France, Spain, Italy, Slovakia, Portugal and Ireland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.

Poland, with a CAGR of +41.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 7.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 17%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while Portugal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+12.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of electrical parts of machinery or apparatus, when their volume decreased by -7.2% to X tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 31%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, machinery electrical parts imports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 34%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In 2022, Belgium (X tons), distantly followed by Spain (X tons), Germany (X tons), Poland (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Portugal (X tons) and Sweden (X tons) were the largest importers of electrical parts of machinery or apparatus, together mixing up 82% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +23.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported electrical parts of machinery or apparatus in the European Union, comprising 34% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a 7.7% share.
