Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, metal filing cabinet exports soared to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 38%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

Exports by Country

Poland represented the major exporter of filing cabinets, card-index cabinets or desk equipment of base metal in the European Union, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was near 40% of total exports in 2021. Germany (X tons) held an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by France (8.2%), Sweden (8.2%), Denmark (6.9%) and the Netherlands (5.8%). From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to metal filing cabinet exports from Poland stood at +5.7%. At the same time, Denmark (+20.3%), Slovakia (+12.9%), Belgium (+3.6%), Sweden (+2.5%) and Italy (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Denmark emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +20.3% from 2012-2021. In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest metal filing cabinet supplier in the European Union, comprising 30% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Denmark, with an 11% share.

In Poland, metal filing cabinet exports increased at an average annual rate of +14.8% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (-5.2% per year) and Denmark (+19.8% per year).

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, metal filing cabinet imports rose to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 51%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Germany (X tons), France (X tons) and Spain (X tons) represented roughly 42% of total imports in 2021. Poland (X tons) held an 8.2% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Sweden (8.1%), the Netherlands (7.8%), Belgium (7.5%) and Italy (5.5%). The following importers - Greece (X tons), Estonia (X tons), Ireland (X tons), Denmark (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) - each recorded a 10% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Estonia (with a CAGR of +38.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest metal filing cabinet importing markets in the European Union were Spain ($X), France ($X) and Italy ($X), with a combined 42% share of total imports. Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Denmark and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 49%.

Estonia, with a CAGR of +40.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -2.4% against the previous year. Import price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, metal filing cabinet import price increased by +62.7% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 35%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2020, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while Greece ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+13.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
