As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Austria (X units), distantly followed by Germany (X units), Italy (X units), Finland (X units) and France (X units) represented the largest exporters of fire-fighting vehicles, together constituting 75% of total exports. The following exporters - Poland (X units), Spain (X units), Slovenia (X units), Croatia (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and Portugal (X units) - together made up 21% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Finland (with a CAGR of +13.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest fire-fighting vehicle supplying countries in the European Union were Austria ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X), with a combined 66% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Finland, Spain, Poland, Croatia, France, Slovenia, Portugal and the Netherlands, which together accounted for a further 30%.
Slovenia, with a CAGR of +22.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2021, stabilizing at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 18%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per unit), while the Netherlands ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovenia (+9.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in the EU
After three years of decline, overseas purchases of fire-fighting vehicles increased by 7.7% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a mild decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 19%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, fire-fighting vehicle imports rose modestly to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Germany (X units) was the largest importer of fire-fighting vehicles, constituting 31% of total imports. Croatia (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 8.9% share, followed by the Netherlands (8.5%), Spain (8.4%), Romania (6.1%), France (5.5%) and Belgium (4.6%). Slovenia (X units), Poland (X units), Italy (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Ireland (X units) and Austria (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to fire-fighting vehicle imports into Germany stood at -3.9%. At the same time, France (+24.1%), Ireland (+23.1%), Slovenia (+13.3%), the Czech Republic (+13.0%), Croatia (+11.9%), Spain (+8.0%) and the Netherlands (+7.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, France emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +24.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Belgium (-1.1%), Poland (-1.9%), Romania (-6.1%), Austria (-12.6%) and Italy (-13.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Croatia, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Ireland increased by +6, +4.8, +4.7, +4.7, +3, +2.3 and +2.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported fire-fighting vehicles in the European Union, comprising 28% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Croatia ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Spain, with an 8.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany stood at -2.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Croatia (+41.9% per year) and Spain (+11.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -2.7% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 19% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then contracted modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Romania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
