In 2022, Germany (X tons) represented the major exporter of first-aid boxes and kits, creating 39% of total exports. Poland (X tons) held a 20% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by the Netherlands (12%), Portugal (7.1%) and Bulgaria (4.5%). The following exporters - Lithuania (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) - each amounted to a 5.6% share of total exports.

Exports from Germany increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Lithuania (+57.9%), Bulgaria (+15.0%), Poland (+10.1%), Portugal (+8.5%) and the Netherlands (+4.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lithuania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +57.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belgium (-3.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Poland (+8.7 p.p.), Bulgaria (+2.9 p.p.), Lithuania (+2.8 p.p.) and Portugal (+2.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Germany (-2.3 p.p.) and Belgium (-2.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Poland ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 62% of total exports. Portugal, Belgium, Bulgaria and Lithuania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 17%.

Among the main exporting countries, Lithuania, with a CAGR of +69.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, remaining stable against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 17%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+7.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

First-aid kit imports totaled X tons in 2022, increasing by 7.1% on 2021 figures. Total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +79.4% against 2012 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 13% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, first-aid kit imports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +86.6% against 2012 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

France (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 14% share, followed by Poland (10%) and the Netherlands (8.8%).
