Finland dominates exports structure, recording X tons, which was near 78% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X tons), mixing up a 5% share of total exports. The following exporters - Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Italy (X tons) - together made up 9.1% of total exports.

Finland was also the fastest-growing in terms of the flat-rolled products of iron or steel (not further worked than cold-rolled) exports, with a CAGR of +49.2% from 2012 to 2022. The Netherlands and Belgium experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Germany (-1.5%) and Italy (-2.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Finland ($X) emerged as the largest cold-rolled steel products supplier in the European Union, comprising 66% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($X), with a 7% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 6% share.

In Finland, cold-rolled steel products exports increased at an average annual rate of +36.1% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belgium (+4.7% per year) and Germany (+1.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -23.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 36% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then shrank notably in the following year.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 18%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, cold-rolled steel products imports surged to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +93.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 63% against the previous year.
