Germany (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 20% share, followed by Spain (13%). France (X tons), Latvia (X tons), Ireland (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Poland (X tons), Estonia (X tons) and Portugal (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Denmark experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of flours, meals and pellets of fish or of crustaceans and molluscs. In Denmark, seafood meals and pellets exports increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (-10.3% per year) and Spain (+8.0% per year).

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 6% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 18%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Greece (X tons), Germany (X tons), Spain (X tons), Denmark (X tons) and Italy (X tons) represented roughly 73% of total imports in 2021. France (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 5.7% share, followed by Poland (4.8%).

Poland, with a CAGR of +8.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 16% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Italy ($X per ton) and France ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) and Spain ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
