The EU liquid fuel furnace burner market contracted notably to $X in 2021, declining by -24.5% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.

Production of Furnace Burners For Liquid Fuel in the EU

In value terms, liquid fuel furnace burner production shrank significantly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 79% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X, and then declined rapidly in the following year.

In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of furnace burners for liquid fuel, when their volume increased by 7.8% to X tons. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 8.3% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, liquid fuel furnace burner exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a pronounced descent. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Italy was the key exporting country with an export of about X tons, which accounted for 58% of total exports. Germany (X tons) held a 19% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by the Netherlands (9.1%). Sweden (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Finland (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.

Exports from Italy decreased at an average annual rate of -1.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the Netherlands (+10.0%) and Spain (+9.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Netherlands emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +10.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Finland (-2.8%), Sweden (-4.1%) and Germany (-6.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Netherlands (+6 p.p.) and Italy (+5.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Germany saw its share reduced by -7.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Italy ($X), Germany ($X) and Sweden ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together comprising 84% of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Italy, with a CAGR of -0.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 8.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 8.4%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+1.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in the EU

In 2021, liquid fuel furnace burner imports in the European Union rose sharply to X tons, increasing by 15% compared with the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, liquid fuel furnace burner imports expanded slightly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 22%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, the Netherlands (X tons) and Spain (X tons) represented the main importers of furnace burners for liquid fuel in the European Union, together resulting at approx. 39% of total imports. Italy (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 9.7% share, followed by Belgium (9.4%), Germany (9.4%), France (8.8%) and Poland (5%). Ireland (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.
