In value terms, high-tenacity filament polyester yarn exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a mild contraction. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The shipments of the seven major exporters of high-tenacity filament yarn of polyesters, namely Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Slovakia and Denmark, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Slovakia (with a CAGR of +18.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest high-tenacity filament polyester yarn supplier in the European Union, comprising 33% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 13% share.

In Germany, high-tenacity filament polyester yarn exports shrank by an average annual rate of -4.0% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: France (-5.6% per year) and the Netherlands (+1.5% per year).

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 10% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a pronounced slump. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while France ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, high-tenacity filament polyester yarn imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Germany (X tons), distantly followed by the Netherlands (X tons), France (X tons), Italy (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Portugal (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main importers of high-tenacity filament yarn of polyesters, together mixing up 79% of total imports. The following importers - Poland (X tons), Denmark (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Luxembourg (X tons) - together made up 14% of total imports.

Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of high-tenacity filament yarn of polyesters. At the same time, Denmark (+25.0%), Luxembourg (+10.5%), Romania (+6.6%), Italy (+6.0%), Belgium (+4.8%), France (+3.6%), Slovakia (+3.6%), the Netherlands (+2.0%), the Czech Republic (+1.3%) and Spain (+1.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Denmark emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +25.0% from 2012-2021. Portugal experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Poland (-4.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Denmark (+3.1 p.p.), Italy (+2 p.p.) and Romania (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Germany (-3.6 p.p.) and Poland (-3.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X), France ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 40% share of total imports. Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Romania, Portugal, Spain, Poland, Denmark, Slovakia and Luxembourg lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 52%.

Denmark, with a CAGR of +20.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 13% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a noticeable shrinkage. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Denmark ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (-1.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
