In value terms, plastic household articles exports contracted to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +43.8% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 14%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.

The shipments of the five major exporters of household articles and toilet articles of plastics, namely Poland, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain, represented more than two-thirds of total export. The following exporters - France (X tons), Luxembourg (X tons), Hungary (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Sweden (X tons) and Greece (X tons) - together made up 18% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +10.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest plastic household articles supplying countries in the European Union were Germany ($X), Poland ($X) and Italy ($X), with a combined 53% share of total exports. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Luxembourg ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +63.1% against 2012 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 18%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then reduced in the following year.

Belgium (X tons), Hungary (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Romania (X tons), Greece (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Hungary (with a CAGR of +15.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest plastic household articles importing markets in the European Union were Germany ($X), France ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 46% share of total imports. Italy, Poland, Spain, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Hungary, Denmark, Romania and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 39%.
