In 2021, the EU non-alloy steel i-sections market was finally on the rise to reach $X after two years of decline. In general, consumption, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. After two years of decline, overseas shipments of i-sections of non-alloy steel increased by 10% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

In value terms, non-alloy steel i-sections exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Spain was the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which accounted for 50% of total exports. Germany (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Luxembourg (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Italy (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 42% share of total exports. Romania (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-alloy steel i-sections exports from Spain stood at +1.9%. At the same time, Romania (+7.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +7.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Luxembourg (-1.2%), Germany (-1.6%), Italy (-2.1%) and Poland (-6.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of i-sections of non-alloy steel, when their volume increased by 12% to X tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, non-alloy steel i-sections imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, France (X tons), distantly followed by Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Italy (X tons), Portugal (X tons), Ireland (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the key importers of i-sections of non-alloy steel, together generating 76% of total imports.
