The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, industrial fatty alcohols exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +55.7% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports in the EU
In 2021, industrial fatty alcohols imports in the European Union reduced slightly to X tons, flattening at 2020. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, industrial fatty alcohols imports surged to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the Netherlands (X tons) was the key importer of industrial fatty alcohols, achieving 35% of total imports. Belgium (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Germany (X tons), Italy (X tons) and France (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 54% share of total imports. The following importers - Spain (X tons) and Poland (X tons) - each accounted for a 7.9% share of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Spain, with a CAGR of +7.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 33% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a slight reduction. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in France ($X per ton) and Spain ($X per ton), while Belgium ($X per ton) and Germany ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
