In 2022, the EU industrial sewing machine market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Overall, consumption, however, saw a deep setback. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

After two years of growth, overseas shipments of industrial sewing machines decreased by -51.2% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a modest expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 48%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then shrank notably in the following year.

France (X units) held a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +19.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest industrial sewing machine supplier in the European Union, comprising 42% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 13% share.
