In 2021, Germany (X units) was the key exporter of instruments and apparatus for measuring or checking the flow or level of liquids, generating 38% of total exports. France (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Italy (X units), the Czech Republic (X units) and Hungary (X units). All these countries together held approx. 38% share of total exports. Romania (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Spain (X units), Denmark (X units), Belgium (X units), Poland (X units) and Austria (X units) held a little share of total exports.

Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +36.0% from 2012-2021. The Netherlands experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the Czech Republic (-4.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of France, Romania, Denmark and Italy increased by +4.2, +3.9, +2.1 and +1.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest measuring instrument supplier in the European Union, comprising 45% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 13% share.
In Germany, measuring instrument exports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Netherlands (+1.6% per year) and France (+1.6% per year).

Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +75.8% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 14%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
