The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 31%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, exports of isoprene rubber (IR) in primary forms skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a pronounced slump. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Germany (X tons) was the main exporter of isoprene rubber (IR) in primary forms, comprising 39% of total exports. Italy (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 24% share, followed by Poland (14%), France (10%) and Hungary (7%). The Netherlands (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +9.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Italy ($X), Germany ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 64% share of total exports.
The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +12.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a perceptible decline. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+3.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of isoprene rubber (IR) in primary forms was finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. In general, imports, however, recorded a mild reduction. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of isoprene rubber (IR) in primary forms soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt setback. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Poland (X tons) and Germany (X tons) represented the key importers of isoprene rubber (IR) in primary forms in 2021, accounting for approx. 18% and 15% of total imports, respectively. Spain (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 9.6% share, followed by Romania (8.4%), Italy (8.4%), Hungary (6.3%), Belgium (5.6%), Austria (5.1%), France (4.8%) and Slovakia (4.7%).
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Romania (with a CAGR of +10.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Poland ($X), Germany ($X) and Spain ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 41% of total imports. Belgium, Romania, Italy, Hungary, France, Slovakia and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 43%.
Among the main importing countries, Austria, with a CAGR of +6.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 11% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the import price increased by 19%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while Austria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (-2.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
