Keyboards Market Size in the EU

For the fifth consecutive year, the EU keyboards market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 28% to $X in 2022. The total consumption indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption increased by +75.8% against 2015 indices. As a result, consumption reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, shipments abroad of keyboards decreased by -40.8% to X units for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate modest growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 65%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2021, and then reduced notably in the following year.

In value terms, the largest keyboards supplying countries in the European Union were Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X), together comprising 59% of total exports. Poland, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Bulgaria, France, Spain, Belgium and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.

Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +24.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2022, growing by 2% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.8%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, purchases abroad of keyboards decreased by -29.2% to X units for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year rising trend. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2021, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, keyboards imports fell markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

In 2022, Germany (X units), distantly followed by the Netherlands (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Poland (X units), France (X units) and Italy (X units) represented the key importers of keyboards, together constituting 69% of total imports. Spain (X units), Belgium (X units), Hungary (X units), Denmark (X units), Sweden (X units), Ireland (X units) and Bulgaria (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Denmark (with a CAGR of +10.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported keyboards in the European Union, comprising 26% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Germany totaled +5.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Netherlands (+1.7% per year) and the Czech Republic (+11.6% per year).

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 8% against the previous year. Import price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, keyboards import price increased by +61.3% against 2013 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 15% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per unit), while Bulgaria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
