From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +18.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest paper label supplying countries in the European Union were Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Italy ($X), together comprising 49% of total exports. France, Belgium, Poland, Austria, Spain, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Romania and Latvia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.
Romania, with a CAGR of +13.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 4.8%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The purchases of the three major importers of labels of paper or paperboard, namely Belgium, France and Spain, represented more than third of total import. Germany (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with an 8.7% share, followed by the Netherlands (7.4%), Poland (7.3%) and Italy (4.8%). Austria (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Romania (X tons), Ireland (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +12.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest paper label importing markets in the European Union were Germany ($X), France ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), together accounting for 42% of total imports. These countries were followed by Belgium, Italy, Poland, Spain, Austria, the Czech Republic, Romania, Ireland, Hungary and Denmark, which together accounted for a further 45%.
Poland, with a CAGR of +5.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, surging by 7.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a noticeable descent. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+5.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
