The EU laser market surged to $X in 2021, growing by 30% against the previous year. In general, consumption saw a strong expansion. The level of consumption peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, laser production expanded slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 25%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, laser exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Germany dominates exports structure, reaching X units, which was near 82% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the Netherlands (X units) and France (X units), together making up a 9.6% share of total exports.

Exports from Germany increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the Netherlands (+17.4%) and France (+9.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest laser supplier in the European Union, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 7% share of total exports.

In Germany, laser exports expanded at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Netherlands (+13.4% per year) and France (+6.8% per year).

In 2021, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
